Re: NHL 2009/2010 Season

Today's pick is on Edmonton Oilers

The team is finally coming back home after long and exhausting road trip. The familiar surroundings (Rexall Place) should do some good.
Avalanche played yesterday at Calgary and won for 2nd time this season at Pengrowth Saddledome 3-2. Certainly, they will be tired, but also upbeat after the successful road game.
It's the 2nd visit to Edmonton this season. The first one ended in a confident 3-0 win. Overall, Colorado has won last 3 road games at Edmonton. Will Oilers find a way to break a bad spell?

Best price on Edmonton: 1.81 WBX, on Colorado 2.2 Ladbrokes

My pick: 3 points on Edmonton @ 1.84 Betfair

Trailing 2-4 close to the end of 2nd period, Edmonton scored 3rd to make it 3-4. 3rd period was all about Oilers, 6-4 final score, +2.52 points!

Re: NHL 2009/2010 Season

Current record:
20 W / 18 L, +8.76 in profit, 70 points staked

Friday night:

I think it's a good idea to beat on Boston Bruins. Buffalo lost 2-6 to Florida on Wednesday and Boston must be in good mood after good performance at Atlanta. Moreover, 2.50 offered by Ladbrokes obliges!

2 points stake

Hard, but nevertheless WIN for Bruins. Good game and +3 in points profit. Risks are always worth taking if the odds are reasonable.

Current record:
21 W / 18 L, +11.76 in profit, 72 points staked

Re: NHL 2009/2010 Season

Saturday pick is on Carolina Hurricanes. The team has picked 5 of last 6 available points (2 shootout wins and 1 shootout loss). It's time to build on these recent positive results.

2 points on Carolina (vs Tampa Bay) @ 2.00 Totesport WIN, +2

Another win! 4th in a row

Current record:
22 W / 18 L, +13.76 in profit, 74 points staked

Re: NHL 2009/2010 Season

Today I'm putting my money on Toronto Maple Leafs for the 3rd time this season. The previous two times the team has disappointed me (1-2 home loss to Ottawa and another 1-2 overtime loss to Tampa Bay). Since then, the things have been changing. There have been 5-1 home demolition over Detroit Red Wings, 2-5 loss to Minnesota and most recently 2-1 shootout win over Washington Capitals. Don't forget the wicked 5-6 shootout loss at Carolina, when Toronto scored with 30 seconds left in regulation to claim what it looked like a final 5-4 win. However, Carolina tied the game with 3 seconds left. How cool is that?
Islanders are looking much better this season, but the question is if they'll manage to keep the pace all the season long and won't fall apart like they did in last season. Right now, NY has lost 2 in a row.
All thing considered, Toronto can deal with Islanders. I also believe they are able to win  in 60 minutes.

2 points on Toronto to win in regulation @ 2.30 Expekt LOSS, -2

Total Maple Leaf domination in shots (61 to 21) which has not transformed to success. 3-4 loss in overtime.

Re: NHL 2009/2010 Season

Lightning played without their stars (Lecavalier, St.Louis, Stamkos, Smith, Tanguay and Ohlund) on Wednesday. Atlanta didn't change its line-up much from previous loss and their stars (Kovalchuk,Antropov, Little, Lehtonen, Hainsey, Kubina) are still on the break.
I highly favour Tampa Bay, because many first team players will be on the ice. The team is also playing at St.Pete Times Forum. The players must make a good impression for the first home game.
And a bit of statistics: so far 23 preseason games have been played and home sides have lost 8 of these 23.
